A dilated eye health exam will be done to thoroughly assess your ocular health, checking for signs of cataracts, diabetes, glaucoma and macular degeneration. Dr. Korman will carefully determine your eyeglass prescription for far vision, near vision, computer/occupational vision, sports vision, and sunwear.

Low vision means that even with regular glasses, contacts, medicine, or surgery there remains reduced vision that makes everyday tasks difficult like reading, writing, watching television, and recognizing people's faces. Most low vision patients have a vision loss from macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetes, stroke or hereditary degeneration. Many times low vision patients are told that "nothing can be done for improving your vision, medically." In low vision rehab we maximize the vision that you do have. It does not cure the underlying eye disease, but it makes it more manageable and can help you live more independently. Much like physical therapy, low vision rehab helps you find and train with devices and learn techniques to maximize your visual function and get back to enjoying the activities you've been missing.
